The older I get and the more beaten down by life I become the more sensitive to that shit I find myself being

That’s why I don’t watch them. They cause me stress.

My fight or flight is very easily triggered due to constant elevated cortisol

The visual aspect of it didn't really affect me, it was the emotional aspect. That kid will never get to enjoy life, his parents will never get to hold him in their arms again, his friends will never be able to play football with him again. That's what truly gets me.

It's the same for practically all gore videos, the visuals don't startle me (except when they're really bad, funky town level), it's the fact that a life is gone.

I lowk question that often because just a couple hudnred years ago death was quite common and before that primitive humans most likely experienced a lot of suffering, despair, and sadness due to the lack of medical expertise and whatnot as well as the lack of any structural government to enforce rules so anybody could rape or kill anybody or torture anybody.
