Higher class was always associated with bulky, head to toe type clothing which exposes skin as little as possible. What makes these clothes signal power/high value?

Maybe back then wearing animal's skin/fur you've killed was a symbol of high haunting success? But then again why?

id assume years ago clothes for higher class people were made with higher quality fabrics and it was a symbol of status to have layers of these on your clothes, id assume its also the same reason royal families wore poofy embroidered clothes.

for females probably signaling that you are a free woman and not sex slave/prostitute, like original purpose of hijab.
+covering her hair was signaling that she was married (generally indoeuropean tradition) which is also high status
