Chat gpt ahYes, not blinking enough can definitely have health effects, and it’s great that you’ve noticed improvements after consciously blinking more! Here’s why blinking matters and what can happen if you don’t do it enough:
### **Health Effects of Not Blinking Enough:**
1. **Dry Eyes**
- Blinking spreads tears evenly across your eyes, keeping them moist. Without enough blinking, your eyes can become dry, irritated, and even inflamed.
- Symptoms: Burning, redness, a gritty feeling, or blurred vision.
2. **Eye Strain & Fatigue**
- Staring (especially at screens) without blinking can lead to eye strain, headaches, and general discomfort.
- Reduced blinking is linked to "computer vision syndrome," where prolonged focus leads to tired eyes.
3. **Reduced Oxygen to the Eyes**
- Blinking helps bring oxygen to the cornea (the clear front part of the eye). Infrequent blinking can lead to slight oxygen deprivation, making your eyes feel tired or strained.
4. **Social Perception**
- People who blink very little may appear intense, unblinking, or even "creepy" to others because blinking is a natural part of nonverbal communication.
- Normal blinking rates are around **10-15 times per minute**, but this drops significantly when concentrating (e.g., staring at screens, reading, or focusing intensely).
5. **Breathing & Tension Connection**
- You mentioned your breathing improved when you blinked more—this makes sense!
- Holding a stare (not blinking) can be linked to shallow breathing or even unconsciously holding your breath (common during concentration or anxiety).
- Blinking may help reset your breathing and relax facial muscles.
### **Why You Might Not Blink Enough:**
- **Hyperfocus** (e.g., gaming, reading, screen use)
- **Anxiety or stress** (some people subconsciously reduce blinking when tense)
- **Habit** (you may have just gotten used to it without realizing)
### **What You Can Do:**
- **Practice conscious blinking** (like you’ve started doing).
- Follow the **20-20-20 rule** (every 20 minutes, look at something 20 feet away for 20 seconds and blink deliberately).
- Use **artificial tears** if your eyes feel dry.
- Relax your facial muscles—sometimes we "stare" without realizing it.
Since you’ve already noticed positive changes, keep it up! Your eyes (and the people around you) will likely thank you. If dryness or discomfort persists, an eye doctor can check for any underlying issues.
Would you say your reduced blinking happens more in certain situations (like screen use or social interactions)?

I can look people in the eyes no matter what. People often look away and never want to look me in the eye unless i look really good. I started blinking bc they said that non blinking can be associated with being psychopath and it seems to work. Never felt the need to blink, too much brain effort diverted. My reply will be worth more of a solution:
Mind me asking, how the actual fuck do you think you can tell how often you blink; and is your "progress" for real?
I won't insult you yet, I want to appear empathic and nice to get the solution.

I just recorded a video of me dancing and I was actively trying to blink. I only blinked 1 time in 15 seconds which translates to 4 blinks per minute. I guess i get so focused with what im doing and I forget to blink.
This gotta be someone else
apparently midwits think i'm a psycho because i don't blink. Games changed now. I learned to blink. Might aswell delete your account now buckoThis gotta be someone else
