It can lower test, but stunting physical growth I'm not too sure

in your opinion (albeit not being a professional) what do you think i should do with this? im going to be taking 5 mg then working up to 10 mg. its for treating major depressive disorder.

I think if it helps you at all go through with it, any inhibition it causes is not noticeable by most normies anyway

Only take SSRIs if you truly need them—when not taking them would be more harmful to your well-being.

Yes SSRIs can stunt your height growth

Yes, research suggests that SSRI use, particularly during puberty, can be associated with reduced height growth, possibly due to a suppression of growth hormone signaling.

Here's a more detailed explanation:
  • Study Findings:
Studies have shown that SSRI treatment during puberty is linked to reduced longitudinal growth, with some research indicating a decrease of about 1 cm in height for every year of SSRI treatment.

  • Mechanism:
The mechanism behind this effect is thought to be related to the impact of SSRIs on growth hormone signaling, which is crucial for normal growth and development during puberty.

  • Specific SSRIs:
Some studies have focused on specific SSRIs like fluoxetine and sertraline, finding that their use is associated with reduced height gain and IGF-1 concentration, a hormone involved in growth.

  • Puberty:
The effects of SSRIs on height growth appear to be more pronounced during puberty, a period of rapid growth and development.

  • Further Research:
While the link between SSRIs and reduced height growth is emerging, more research is needed to fully understand the long-term effects on adult height and body composition, as well as to determine the optimal approach to managing mental health conditions in young people while minimizing potential growth-related risks(y)

Fortunately, the stunted growth caused by SSRIs is reversible.

Read it and the conclusion I got is just stop taking it(y)
Stopping SSRIs like sertraline may help restore proper IGF-1 absorption, potentially reversing growth suppression, but this varies by individual. The process is gradual and can take months. and only works if ur gp are open, if not then only the bone density will increase and your legs will grow in width insead of lengh.

actually i was taking 4 medications a while ago risperidone guanfacine lexapro and buspar. most of these ive been taking since a young age

it inherently blocked my growth and puberty, so i got out of it for a couple of years and puberty started and i started growing.

now im going to just take the ssri after some years.

Good luck just be prepared, because you're probably going to have the worst bone growth pains you'll ever feel.
But if you seriously have any of the mental health issues these meds are meant to treat (like ASD or schizophrenia), you should definitely journal your neurological state and see if you need to hop back on.
