On this page, thirty-three definitions are given. From each definition, the word defined has been omitted, and a number in parenthesis substituted. On the bottom, a list of sixty-five words is given. Thirty-three of the words in this list fit the definitions given exactly, and thirty-two are not suitable. On the dropdown before the appropriate word in this list, choose the number substituted for it in its definition. The first three definitions are correctly marked. The word omitted (1) from the first definition is β€œinch,” so the figure 1 is placed before that word in the list. From the second definition, the word β€œbiology” has been omitted, so the figure 2 is placed before that word in the list.

If the sum of first m terms of an AP is the same as
the sum of its first n terms, show that the sum of its
first (m + n) terms is zero.
its easy but lengthy

a+a+d+a+2d+a+3d=32=4a+6d so 2a+3d=16

(a(a+3d))/(a+d)(a+2d) = 7/15

find a quadratic looking equation from here, sub in what a equals in terms of d, solve there on
if i take a+d+a+2d+a+3d+a+4d=32 so a+10d=9 what next

no, if you do that sum, you get 4a+10d, can be a bit confusing seeing them all squished so just group the terms together to help you see it better. same thing from there, divide by 2 and get 2a+5d=16 and then do the ratio, form the quadratic blah blah blah

but if we take a+d+a-d+a+2d+a-2d=32 wouldnt that directly give us the value of a

a-2d+a-d+a+d+a+2d
this one is consecutive
a-2d, a-d, a+d, a+2d?? youre missing a. you pretty much have like -4, -2, 2, 4

wdym wouldnt it be 4a=32 so a = 8
it WOULD but they arent consecutive.

youre not including a, you need it to be a separate term if youre going from -d to +d. it would be like this a-2d, a-d, a, a+d

so instead of your series like, -4, -2, 2, 4 (missing 0 the initial term), you will get -4, -2, 0, 2 (the correct consecutive prog)

if you have a, a+d, a+2d, a+3d, whats the difference from first to last? 3d, remember d is (n-1)d, so a 4 term progression means last-first=n-1
