can you be free without money?

i‘ve been seeing this question and some different responses to that question and now i constantly think of this question

because what does being free mean for you?

how did our ancestors spend their time without money and all the things we use in this modern society?

and why doesn‘t everyone "wake up" sort of speak and just lives in a forest or near the sea
