RSM made a post saying the amount of force it would take to dislodge an implant would probably kill you. My silicone chin implant isn't fixed in place with any screws, and it's not even placed right, and it doesn't feel like it could possibly move unless it were hit with a bat or something. I've done BJJ with it.

Don’t think a punch or kick could damage it. Only a super heavy force could, but you would be death in that case so it does not really matter.

Providing that it's fully healed, anything that has enough power to break or dislodge your implant would also be strong enough to break or dislodge your own bones regardless of having an implant. Having an implant won't make it any better or worse from what I read.

What about medpor implants with titanium screws? I am considering those

Yes, the amount of force it will take to break your jaw with a jaw implant will be at least as much as the amount of force it would take to break your jaw without the implant. There is an argument that softer materials (like silicone) will provide more protection than harder materials (like metal).

Monday night brawl he can wrestle these extensions

If you get punched the hard peace of metal in your jaw will stick out leaving your face looking like it has a spike on it

what about jaw surgerys? is your bone structure more susceptibale to injury after even 1 year post op and fully healed? Im thinking of getting surgery on my mandible and maxilla but i do mma so i dont want to get punched and have my jaw all fucked up.

The whole purpose of getting a jaw implant is to look like an ogre. This scares away other men, so the fight doesn't happen to begin with

I've heard healed bone is stronger than before it heals, but I don't know if that's really true. I think if it was weaker, doctors would tell you to avoid contact sports forever, because they love telling people to stop doing shit, but they don't.

If that were true, why are the screws never removed after a BSSO, since they wouldn’t be ‘holding anything together’? Is it just not practical? Safety measure?

do you know of any fighters who competed after having a broken jaw and needing surgery to fix it? or of anyone who had a jaw surgery for cosmetics.

I think they can be removed 6 months to 1 year after if you want. It's just most patients/surgeons don't bother.

Because it requires another surgery, and doctors see that as an unnecessary risk. But they can remove them no problem.
