Can you guys explain why SEA (except for SG and some parts of MY) is such a shithole?

They don't even have a drinkable tap water, their cities are filled with motorcycles, shit sidewalks and shackle infrastructure in general. Some are even worse than Sub-Saharan Africa level in terms of development and sanitation... According to statistics, many parts still defecate in public!!!!

What make them stay backwards while Japan, Korea , China and Taiwan SAR progress?
