Med student here, he is not really wrong as you think, chemo therapy is shit and unironically there are huge number of cases where young people had cancer for years and years without knowing and then dying from some unrelated thing and being diagnosed with cancer post mortem

Thing is, chemo therapy kills the weak zombie cancer cells, but the cancer stem cells are the strongest and most resistant cells in your body together with their counterparts the normal stem cells. They have many qualities that differ from normal cells, much more active genes for prolifiration, stronger genes for much longer cell life, more telemorase, more dense lipophilic membrane etc. The thing is, chemo kills the 99% of the normal cancer cells, but then the 1% of the strongest stem cancer cells mostly survive the chemo because of their much better durability, and its similar to natural selection, basically those strong stem cells are the one producing the other normal cancer cells, but because they originate from the much more mutated and sturdy stem cells, the new cancer cells grow much faster and afe completely resistant to cancer treatment which causes death in a patient.

Yes, physically removing cancer is the most effective, chemo rarely works its a draw of luck, you need to pray that the cancer stem cells didn't gain even stronger mutations during the whole spread, if they did then RIP
