Wikipedia only mentioned Americans. Didn't know British universities used it too. What are you majoring in?

we dont major in uk like the americans. my degree is electrical eng. we start off technically doing eng overall then we specialise into our own departments.

I see, we do majors here. Since we are required to do a minor in our third year. Regardless of what you study.

Why are they bad and why is yours better in your opinion? Do you also work with a points system? We work with ECs here, which stands for European Credits. You can get 60 ECs in each year, so 240 ECs in total in order to get your degree. Usually, you can get 5 ECs after every examination. 5 ECs is equal to 140 hours of study time. Depending on the university, you need either 45 or 50 ECs to go into the second year, and if you fail certain subjects twice in the first year, you have to retake classes the next year.

personal bias: if i was american, id say majors r better. realistically, its far easier to tell som1 im an electric eng than saying i majored in x and got a minor in y. u dont exactly come across as a master of anything (colloquially) despite studying the same content. yeh we have creds too. a necessary 120/yr. u may take optionals too (meaningless in reality but stuff like free-language-learning is a fair trade).

our resitting/retaking policy varies per uni but often u have the right to resit a failed module during the summer period; if you fail the resit, u must retake the entire year (they apparently revoke ur place in medicine? i say this bc i heard of som1 roping after failing n not being allowed back in).
