What happened
So me and friend 1 are in friend 2's driveway and are headed home after hanging out. I am in the passenger seat and friend 1 is on the driver's seat. Friend 1 accidentally puts the car in drove instead of reverse, and hits the gas. We were on a very steep hill, almost a cliff, and start flying down this steep hill. I try to reach my left foot over the cars console to hit the brakes, but can't reach. The car travels at approximately 25 mph down this steep hill for about 30-40 yards before landing in a small ditch. The windshield breaks, my airbag fails to work, and the car starts filling with some kind of gas, to which I thought was carbon monoxide in the moment, but was really probably something with the airbag. On my side, the door is hard to open because of the steep incline of the hill, the dirt is in the way of the car, so I kick the door out. I then crawl out of the car and lay on the ground, trying to stay conscious, while an ambulance arrives, and I get taken in a stretcher to the ER room. Friend 1 has so much adrenaline in his body that even though he has a strained back, wrist, and badly bruised knees, he is standing up, having almost a panic attack and freaking out. I have a badly pulled and almost torn groin, especially on my right leg, a face covered in blood from the broken glass, and cuts along my legs and am bruised/sore all over.
Hospital results
Me and friend 1 both have full body X-rays and CT scans in the emergency room, we're both given a lot of ibuprofen and IV, and somehow neither of us have fractured bones. I was diagnosed as slightly concussed, and my friend is just bruised. We got EXTREMELY lucky; the car somehow dodged every single tree, there was no glass in my face, no cuts on my eyes, and neither of us had broken bones.
Why I feel different from everybody else
I've always thought that there's a chance im slightly neurodivergent, but I've never really been able to prove it and don't wanna ask anybody if I am, so I just keep it to myself. When I am on my stretcher, in the ambulance, the guy asks me how tall I am (I'm barely conscious jfl) this is gonna sound like tales, but I swear my first thought was "height fraud" I am 5'9 but I tell him I am 5'10, lying in a car crash about me height. My mind then flashes back to the wreck scene where I crawled out of the car. My shoes had both either fallen off or been taken off (I can't remember) and I wonder if my 1 inch height insoles will be discovered and if they'll know I'm heightfrauding. This should obviously be the least of my concerns at this moment, but for some reason I feel it's important. It just feels like my brain processes things differently than everybody else's, idk. After this crash, I've realized how deeply my appearence has taken away my thinking.
This part isn't really related to the crash, but I just wanted to mention it. Whenever I am bloated, I am so insecure that I will hide in the bathroom stall at events, such as at church or other places, because I just don't want to be seen looking like that.
Though obviously a car crash is a bad things to happen, I can take a bad situation and learn some things about myself with it and try to make good from a bad situation.
Hope you all enjoyed and thought my story was interesting. @Mast Reich @ghost!
