what’s your guys take on carb loading before a workout? does it actually work? i’m trying today and just wanted to ask. i heard it makes muscles look fuller.

Mostly just gives you more energy to lift heavier

Yes and no. Simply taking carbs pre workout (<1.5h) won't really do much in terms of replenishing glycogen (molecule that gives pump and energy for the muscles) because full glycogen synthesis can take up to 24 hours, so it's more important to eat a good amount of carbs throughout the day and right after the workout than right before it. The main benefit is that by eating carbs before training you are able to maintain high blood glucose, which is proven to increase athletic performance and reduce the perception of fatigue.
