I am not saying that you should be a fatass and excede your maintence calories by bulking. Maintence calories provide sufficient energy for max hypertrophy. However, If you are taking the gym Seriously, you need to be allocating most of ur calories towards carbs. 0.7 g of protein is sufficient , but going over/ lb of bodyweight this is a waste of calories IMO.
The more carbohydrates you consume, the more glycogen you will have, which will lead to more strength , resulting in more muscle.
I understand why people obsess over protein , because it is high in satiety and some sources are EXTREMELY micronutrient dense.
However , I’ve never understood where the reasoning for 1g/lb of bodyweight comes from. Countless studies prove that 0.7 is sufficient for max hypertrophy. If you are on low carb or even keto (jfl) start carbmaxxing and watch your strength and muscle gain skyrocket.
