As for myself, I don't experience that but I can see it around my waist and my upper body, muscle bellies losing their definition.
Being lean would alleviate the bloating that's for sure. The leaner you are, the more deprived of glycogen storages you are too so the body will want to hold to any source of carbs. With a smart approach and carb cycling you can be defined/lean and having your muscles look "full", instead of being flat.
Carbs are essential for good workout, pumps, vascularity and muscle building.

Basically what @sasha108 said ; practice an activity that suits you. Live a balanced lifestyle and give the best odds for your genetic potential to express itself. Good clean whole carbs ; sweet potatoes and standard potatoes, rice, pasta, oats, couscous.. You get the idea.
Just be healthy and happy. Carbohydrates are not the enemy.
