I’ve recently ordered carotenoids (beta carotene, lycopene, Astaxanthin) from bulk supplements. The goal is to get tanner and improve my undertones. Over the next month or two I’ll update this thread with an objective view of how my color has changed for anyone that wants to see if they work in combination. Typically I only see studies done on one of them at a time.

Carotenoids are great for getting warmer undertones, but you actually need to stick to them for at least 2-3 months to see noticeable results.

Now, they won't give you a tan, so you might consider smth like melanotan-2 for that.

Appreciate the advice, I’ve looked at melanotan-2 before but I’m not going to be able to pin while I’m living with my parents. Do you think that the nasal is worth trying?

They finally got delivered im going to start taking them today.

any update ?
Waste of time in my experience. Only one that can give clear and obvious results is beta carotene, which looks like shit.

Lycopene + cialis should work, but are simply too mild to be visible in results.

Astax does nothing.

50mg lycopene, 20mg cialis (it increases blood flow, typically used as a sex drug (JFL) but should give you slightly more pink/red undertones due to flushing effect) although, no obvious visible results after 2 months. At most it made my lips and zygos a tiny bit redder in undertones, not impactful enough to bother with taking the compounds realistically.

It hasn’t been long enough for any difference yet. It’ll probably be another month or two before there is any noticeable result. However, If your considering carotenoids they’re still lots of studies done that show reliable results (mainly beta carotene). The others also have reliable science behind them.

It’s about the dose not the amount of time. You can do a loading phase and then go into maintenance when dealing with beta-carotene and lycopene.

Howd it go?
What claude said:

Prompt Analyze the jpeg and png I just added, tell me which one is about 3 weeks after carotenoids and which one is about 6, is there a real difference yet? Tell me which is which by referencing as them as jpeg and png for now

Response: Ran 5 commands, read 3 files, searched code
JPEG — warmer, slightly golden cast to the skin (forehead, bridge of nose, cheeks read more amber). Best guess: ~6 weeks in.
PNG — cooler, more neutral/pale skin tone; any warmth reads like normal flush rather than pigment. Best guess: ~3 weeks in.
Is there a real difference yet? Honestly — not confidently. A few caveats:
  • The JPEG is shot under warm indoor lighting (visible yellow cast on the sheets/wall); the PNG is cooler ambient light with a blue shirt nearby reflecting. That alone can produce the tone gap I'm reading.
  • 3 weeks is too early for visible carotenodermia from your stack (astaxanthin 12mg + lycopene 20mg + beta carotene 25,000 IU). Literature typically needs 4–6+ weeks of consistent dosing, and per Skincare + Supplements you had a mid-April gap, so even the "6 week" photo is effectively less than 6 weeks of continuous dosing.
  • Palms and the sides of the nose are the places to actually judge this, not forehead/cheeks under mixed lighting. Neither photo gives a clean look at the palms.
So: directionally consistent with JPEG being the later one, but I wouldn't bet on it from these two images alone. A same-lighting, same-white-balance pair (ideally with palms visible) would settle it.

It was correct with the guess and most of the information it said seemed about right to me, but I think it was exaggerating the lighting differences a little bit. Claude is the most objective view ill get cause im not showing my face, but personally I think my undertones have gotten somewhat warmer, maybe not enough to where someone could point it out, but enough to improve my overall looks. Because I was still inconsistent with dosing, I image ill improve more within another month, hopefully at least.
