It’s the standard upper middle class car. Along with range rovers,Porsches, Audis, and bmws. I don’t know what people drive where you live but owning a Mercedes definitely gives you a halo.

Well it is dictated by price. Most US young men can only reasonably aspire to own a sports car like a Dodge Challenger, Chevy Camaro or Ford Mustang. Pretty much all US sports cars look similar in 2024. 30+ years ago there was much more variety in appearance.
