The reason I’m asking is because my sister absolutely hates it, says I look emo, and says it looks absolutely horrendous

True, I have very long hair and some have insisted "you are not taking care of it" even though it is in top shape lol.. and I do take care of it. Some even say I shouldn't brush my hair which I am pretty sure are attempts at sabotage because my hair tangles up a lot. I noticed on long hair subs on reddit too some person posts freakishly good hair and comments are full of criticism lol.. maybe OP actually has great hair and people are triggered and envious on some level.
