Change in US foreign policy. The Donroe Doctrine

You are an American so I thought you'd have an opinion regarding this.
Too focused on my daily life + too low IQ to really have one tbh

I just hope Drumpf doesn’t do anything catastrophic that would disrupt my or my friends/families lives

True Trump's got that hardcore wall of opposition no matter what and there is a chance of the isolationist wing of his MAGA base to bail if Venezuela turns into another commitment. Losing independents over a prolonged mess abroad would be brutal for midterm.

Imo Venezuela raid was a short term flex delivered the optics Trump always chases. Maduro captured, oil profit but as we see it already started backlash even within his core MAGA base and even internationally it could turn into a mud slinging contest. On Epstein I'm not sure. Iirc files show that trump flew on the Lolita Express multiple times and had deeper social ties than admitted no outright crimes are proven yet off with less than 1% released but there is a chance you never know.
yeah venezuela is a big gamble, if this "regime change" doesnt work out and requires more us action or venezuela turns into a failed state, it will be brutal for trump and overshadow the early military successes. and the whole epstein thing is weird, because there seems to be more to it, at the same time if there were a smoking gun i feel like it would have already been leaked (even if it implicated politicians from both parties, the party in power or officials with ideological bias could cherry pick what to leak)

btw, how is the economic situation on the ground? the numbers look quite rosy, inflation at 2-3%, gas prices at a 5 year low, last quarter gdp growth at 4.3%. and yet i have the impression a lot of people are not happy with the economy...

Nice thread, thanks for the tag. Good history background. Studied the Monroe Doctrine late-last semester so I understood every molecule

Many on the left like to complain about America, Trump particularly.

Here's a funny one:
The signs on the bottom though. We want our cancer back. 🤣🤣🤣 Yes this is parody, BUT it's not too far off. Crazy how there are people so committed to disliking this

Interesting thread like always OP.

I think in general this strategy could work and potentially benefit America in both the short/long term; however, there are things like America being estranged and loss of voter support that can prove to make these decisions be drastic missteps for the country.

Especially the loss in voter base one. If next election cycle it's a party swap, it kinda just invalidates all this effort too no? Especially if the Dems try to go back and do foreign policy how the US did in the past.

Now time to get those sweet US supported stocks:feelshah:

It's a more aggressive form of globalism. It really isn't good in the long term.
