It's true that they did change a lot about how it worked when they updated from gpt4 to gpt5.

The reason they did this was because people were becoming too dependent or delusional from it. The bot was too nice, and acted as a yes man, validating everything you said no matter how schizo or wrong it was. Prompt engineering solves this issue entirely, I got gpt+ and just made myself several custom GPT's with different prompts for all my needs, and it does it without asking any questions. you can customize your default gpt in your user settings aswell.
