I'm not saying jaw doesn't matter. A severely recessed jaw will ruin your face. However, the difference between a "not recessed" jaw vs a god tier jaw is honestly not that large in terms of creating facial harmony. A chiseled jaw looks cool on its own but does not interact much with other features and can even look blocky or ridiculous on a lot of faces if it's too wide. On the other hand, cheekbones, because they create so much striking contrast between the malar and submalar area that distracts from any standard flaws and frame the eyes, will take just about any average looking person and make them attractive and will take just about any ugly person with otherwise bad harmony and make them at worst average or more often striking and unconventionally attractive. Adam Driver, Cillian Murphy, Timothee Chamalet, etc would all be below average if it weren't for their cheekbones and all have noticeable flaws, but since your mind is so drawn to the striking contrast on their cheeks, it halos these features as interesting rather than flawed. If you play around with faceapp or similar apps, you will notice that eye area is actually 80% how the cheekbones frame the eyes. Sad, lifeless eyes become expressive and striking, and average eyes become model tier.
