Chess and high IQ

I see many people in chess acting like their high Elo makes them smart. I have around 2300 Elo myself, and I don’t think I’m especially smart and i suck at math. Is the link between Elo and IQ real, or is it mostly BS?

My younger brother is really smart- medical doctor, who graduated with a bachelors degree in Chemistry and a close to 4.0 gpa. Not very good at chess.

Then again, there are some average IQ black nigger chess hustlers in NYC who can beat everyone in chess.
