Hi!
Just started chewing. I bought that chisell thing. The hard bite version.
Did some 10 minutes of closed mouth, molar, low range of movement chewing.
The thing is that after this i need to wait 1h or put ice on my face cause it's very swollen and just plain ugly.

The question to those of you who have chewed is if after several months do you have better jawline definition or do you just look bloated?

At the gym, we had a sayjng.
How you look now after a pump is how you will look in 6 months, without a pump.
If the same is true for masseter muscles than i can just throw chisell to the trash

Just don't overdo it with chewing(trust me)

2x/week is more than enough to reap benefits without getting side effects like tmj, shorter teeth, shorter jaws, etc

The rest to grow your masseters is hormones&diet

I guess hormones come into play if you are still in puberty. I am 34.
But yeah, i guess it's a good idea to not overdo it. Will keep that in mind.

With hormones I just mean good T-levels to promote muscle building, regardless of age.

I think there really isn't much more to chewing. Although I would say chewing falim or mastic gum is better than a piece of plastic bc the motion is more natural. And there were some good posts about how to chew correctly(temporalis/masseter activation)

Short, maybe 5-10 minutes imo

Cavemen didn't chew on their steaks 3 hours long. Ideally you should just chew naturally hard food but bc nowadays we mostly eat soft diets, to get that stimulus chewing hard gum short duration regularly will get you the same benefits

But anyone can correct me if they think differently

Did caveman only eat twice per week, also isn't 5-10 minutes too short for eating a raw animal?

Lmao just do whatever you want, we have tiny jaws compared to caveman. The point is chewing gum for hours everyday will only harm you and the stimulus you need from mastication for proper masseter and skull development is quite low, but most of us still lack it from young on.
And don't call me kek du spast

My face and you can google it

We weren't made to chew gum for hours.
Also clenching (which I did too) is probably even worse
Did you clench teeth on teeth? I’m sure you could clench all you want and your teeth wouldn’t suffer with a spongy mouthguard

Yes I did. Yes something like a mouthguard shouldn't wear down your teeth. It would compress your maxilla and mandible, which can be good I guess if you have excess CW rotation. I have shortface syndrome, so mewing, clenching on mouthguard, tongue chewing and all that stuff is the opposite of what I need. I tried them all for a longer time and it only made everything worse

how the fuck can you lose bone from chewing retard :feelsuhh:

cavemen's teeth were extremely worn down by the time they hit 30, and weren't expected to live much longer. They used their teeth not just for eating hard foods but for working on tools, etc. So yes its true they chew'ed a ton. I made a thread (you can check my posts) about how to chew without destroying your teeth. Now the bone resorption one is difficult. I have a deep bite meaning my mandible is basically in a resorbed state that @Need2Ascend is talking about. You can extrude the teeth and the bone would build up (build back). Also I would suggest that perhaps if you get extrusion elastics on your teeth that may be the perfect time to hard chew and even clench (with teeth protection), given that the force will be somewhat evened out by the extruding orthodontic gear.

All this said, its still a mystery to me exactly how bone responds to forces. I mean chewing alone I would not expect to cause intruded teeth and thus bone resorption... Short quick bursts are probably optimal, and may even tell the bone to become harder. Something similar may be true with mewing and thumb/facepulling. Unfortunately I'm yet to hear anyone make sense of these things.

Masseter muscle doesn't become smaller once it's hypertrophied right? That's why doctor have to use Botox right? What about just building that muscle slowly over the years? maybe 1 or two training sessions per month?
