Sliding genio mogs 99% of the time right? Like, would there be any scenario where you would choose an implant instead?

yeah sure, if i wanna get punched in the face somehow and go for another surgery, just for fun.

Chin implants add legitimate mass / volume to your face and result in a perfectly smooth mandible without step off or gaps.

You can also widen the chin, reshape the chin, and augment beyond what's possible with genioplasty.

If they're PEEK or titanium & fixated with screws they're not going anywhere.

IMO fixated PEEK implants > genioplasty.

So many genioplastys make the chin look like stuck onto the face with glue from the front. They also make the chin much more narrow.

Yes and no.

Modern geniplasty techniques use biomaterials to add mass, smoothen out the step or close gaps.
There are also techniques with bone grafting, which add mass.

It mostly depends on what your surgeon is comfortable/experienced with.
