The "common prosperity" project by Xi Jinping aims to redistribute the wealth of society and takes the first step in the direction of a new socialism. Marxs and Engels wrote that nationalism was bourgeois, the fact that he said countries would just dissolve over time is a massive anti-nationalist statement. Karl marx and the vast majority of Marxist are internationalists.

Marx didn’t say capitalism is a necessity at a start of a communist society, he said it was necessary to start a socialist society (this caused massive arguments in Russia). China has moved away from socialist ideology, it’s not going to drop its current mode of production any time soon.
