1. This particular balloon was found over Montana. It flew over the Aleutian Islands and over Canada, a similar route to how a commercial airplane would fly from Beijing to the US. The Americans sighted the balloon relatively early once it entered the continental US.

2. This probably isn't the first spy balloon China has sent to the US.
