Chinese men are quite smart and self aware. They care a lot about the image / reputation and "aura" they have in society

For them there are 2 directions, either they follow the normal path of young marriage with a young girl, or they remain incels who don't leave their home as they are relatively isolated, alone for life / until a girl in her early 20s shows up at their door

Also, dating events like these are very frequent and common given China's large population. Many men may attend once or twice, get turned down, and then stop coming, while women keep coming back and try their luck because they have nothing else to do + are rushed by age / aging
