There is this homeless guy at my school, Why doesn't he just get a job and buy a home?

He has a choice, now doesn't he?

Does anyone really have a choice?

Is our life like a movie or a game? we have a choice ofc, it's a game not a movie... or is it?

Does anyone truly possess an authentic self, or are we merely reflections of external influences? Does a "self" truly exist?

The language of the universe is mathematic, according to that logic, the universe knows what will happen, Everything is already predicted.

Mathematically speaking, you were supposed to read this, I was supposed to write this.

And now you go down this rabbit hole and realize... your too far gone and there is no way to return.

if you gaze long into an abyss, the abyss also gazes into you.

-Nietzsche

I thought the absurd was more the tension between our intrinsic desire to search for meaning and yet being constantly disappointed by the world’s inability to ever give us one. It’s not that we need to find our own subjective meaning, but that whatever subjective meaning we create is ultimately just as pointless as objective meaning and destined to fail (come crashing down the hill again), despite all the labor we threw into building that meaning (pushing the boulder up the hill). His point, I think, is that that just is life: seeking meaning and always being disappointed. We are all condemned to do this for the rest of our lives, just like Sisyphus. And since we’ve all presumably decided not to kill ourselves, we’ve all committed ourselves to this Sisyphean task. We must imagine Sisyphus happy, because if we don’t, we should probably just put a bullet in our brains.

It makes total sense on paper for us to assume we never have a choice, but going down this nihilistic path will do YOU no good:feelsokman:

Stop LDAR'ing + coping and believe there isnt a choice, start living life

It was supposed to show how those who dont have any problems remove the complexity from things and simplify it making it seem like it's a choice.

While I dont believe anyone can be 100% authentic and therefore "free" because we are all born in different positions, places and genealogies so to an extent some things are already left to "fate". I also think people that say that it's 100% predetermined are just falling to one extreme because it is easier for the human mind to fall into polarities than it is to see nuance, e.g: good and evil, light and dark, devil/ahriman and god/yahwe.
THe universe does act according to a couple of principles but those principles themselves were built on chaos thus giving a lot of leeway in terms of probability and predetermination.

Any choice “you” make is not actually made by “you” (the emergent identity rising up from several parts), it’s simply an effect of causes that you don’t control. If you were to place anyone else in your exact situation, exact circumstances, exact biology, exact neurotransmitter levels, they would always do the same thing you do. Meaning whatever happened, was always going to happen as a result of the universe rather than “you”

Even if “you” were to read this and start to feel apathetic and as a result experience a self fulfilling prophecy where you see the futility of choice and give up on making good choices, that state is caused by you stumbling on here out of pure chance, the neurochemistry you inherited by chance, your life experiences and memories that occurred out of chance, not some conscious will existing in a vacuum. You don’t control the mind, the mind controls of you.

Of course this isn’t some normative defense of bad choices because that argument would collapse into itself extremely quickly, but rather a description of the nature of the universe.
