In Jewish mysticism, the Zohar implies that only one who has been circumcised can fully commune with or see God . Several central kabbalistic concepts are based on interpretations of the meanings of circumcision. These include the "inscription" of the name of God in the flesh and the viewing of the Divine Presence or connection to *Shekhinah through the physical berit milah.
