First one is trance, but a lot of trance gets thrown under the techno label since trance left the mainstream. Second one is 8th note progressive house. Deadmau5 made it popular back in the late 2000s

I noticed a few hard trance guys getting mainstream appeal, but they are mostly riding off of the techhouse and hard techno crowd



It took about 5 years to go from the gay hard german trance to the supersaw uplifting dutch trance back in the 90s tho.

If only trance had better marketing. TranceWax is the only newer trance dj that makes fresh sounding uplifting trance.

Why isn't this genre popular anymore

Cause of dj technology, other genres salvaging trance fans, and trance djs switching over.

Trance was the ultimate Dj genre back in the vinyl days. Long breakdowns and build ups made it easy for Djs to mix, and they did not need to think fast or be creative to mix other genres. With sync on modern dj equipment, that solved the mixing issue, so Djs can play whatever they want without putting much thought into mixing.

Techno salvaged the hard trance fans, and progressive house (deadmau5 and Kaskade) salvaged the uplifting crowd. Most uplifting techno is outright trance now.

Armin beat Tiesto in the Trance sphere. This pushed Tiesto out and he switched exclusively to house. A lot of other big djs followed and there are barely any big djs playing trance now.

This would have been anthem trance back in the 2000s, but there is a lot of overlap now.

Uses the same lead as Insomnia, and that was considered trance back then.

Idk if this new Calvin Harris song would be considered 100% trance but I listen some chicane and Ibiza trance influence. I wish more DJs make beats like this
