Clean shaven or let it grow?

If my facial hair comes in really slow and patchy is it better to just stay clean shave or let it grow out? I can’t grow a full bushy spartan beard, it’s more like a Johnny depp or Keanu reeves looking beard. I want to get with this girl and I don’t want to turn her off with bad facial hair. Should I stay shaved? Do women like any kind of facial hair even if it’s thin and patchy?
