The English, Welsh, and the Northern French are practically the same population.

French being closer than German is mad surprising considering the German migrations to England came first, England only invaded France and the two exchanged demographics later on.

fun fact the average German (West, Central, and whatever) is closer to the average English than a Northern German is to the same English. the English are not heavily Germanic.

Is this based on FST or what?

I don't know what that is. can you clarify?
it measures allele frequency difference, which is just to say a difference in how often a gene variant shows up in a population. So if a gene variant shows up in 80% of one pop but 5% of another pop... so on.

Im wondering because I don't get why scots would be that far down the list, Irish makes sense because the later migrations to England would obv be difference but you'd think scots would be very similar

It's based on Vahaduo. I used coordinates. and yes the Scots being that low was shocking for me too. but most of these populations are already extremely close. it's just one is closer than the other.

Shouldn't the Scottish be higher and northern French divided into Breton and Norman?

I'm sick and tired of the slav slander :AngryArthur:

I apparently have an ancestor from the 1600s who's Scottish or English.

there's essentially no genetic difference between parts of england and coastal western europe, but that's mostly because they were settled/ raided by them.

>When we compared our data with an additional 177 samples collected in Friesland and Norway, we found that the Central English and Frisian samples were statistically indistinguishable.

it's specifically on the Y chromosome as well, meaning your ancestors got raped by mine a lot and that's how you came to be.

Nigga frenchcucks and englandiggers are both celtcucks. Germanicucks only moved in as a small minority in the north east.

There is essentially no Norman blood in the common Englishmen today due to lack of mixing.

Actually, I only tested with French from Normandy, totally forgot about Brittany.
