Venezuela was the 4th most richest country in the world in 1950, also they have a variated climates going from deserts to cold mountains

Mexico is not just desert (please stop watching hollywood movies), it has many climates like Venezuela and also the most developed area is in the arid north (Nuevo León, Sonora, Baja California, Jalisco, etc)

To an extent I think cold climate would benefit societies more so than a hot climate. pretty hard to say though. all we know is that europeans basically crushed the world and reformed it to their liking. Pretty hard to prove that cold climate did this. There are different advantages to living in different environments after all. very far stretch at best to definitively say that this is true. could be though
