i meant to say that america has the standard large BBIBs & retail banks with large and medium balance sheets, in addition to many small banks that more frequently provide SME loans, can have 1:1 reserves and are subject to less ESG constraints or arbitrary social/political censorship (debanking for political/social opinion eg farmers or medical protests). this is compared to euro countries that have centralized retail banks (choice of a few banks) and BBIBs, that provide SMEs less frequently while being subject to more sociopolitical constraints and censorship, because of their higher balance sheets and standardization. not to mention, the diversity of financial, political and social regulation at a state level (eg between texas v california regarding startup law, banking, energy regulation, social services, policing, self defense and stand your ground laws). america is a whole world in and of itself. if an american doesnt enjoy social policy of one state, they can leave or defect to another. no such dynamic exists in europe (most laws are homogenized by the EU). americans are so lucky to have their constitution and land mass.
