Try circumnavigating the Earth's circumference on mostly wooden vessals with turbulent weather phenomenons and making stops each and every few hundred miles you find a port. Now imagine making a logistics line for all that distance so you can actually carry an army to conquer it. East Asia would have gotten conquered just like Middle East but certain things prevent this. Just like how it was harder to conquer Iran than say Egypt.
