In my opinion, colored eyes (prominent ones esp) > heterochromia, because to have high contrast, you would need your color palette to not all be the same.
Sure, heterochromia > non colored eyes because of what I said.
I can see why heterochromia would be better on people with colored eyes that aren't prominent on them, but again, wouldn't a lighter shade provide higher contrast?
Another reason is symmetry. Heterochromia isn't symmetrical, even though non colored eyes are. It has no contrast or strikingness, which is why heterochromia is better than uncolored eyes.
Also, by heterochromia, I don't mean the slight kind where you can't notice it + one of the eyes being colored.
