Coloring theory: what exactly is desirable? (with scientific references)

I just made a coloring guide recently, but didn’t mention the essential theory it’s based on, the desirable yellow/red undertones.
So here it is:

Also notice how in first reference it’s mentioned yellowness, redness and LIGHTNESS, so basically tan is not necessarily desirable based on that study

Good comparison photos. Taking astaxanthin everyday for months really improved my coloring combined with a bit of tanning.

The most attractive colorings will always be those with a light base and orange pigmentation, although I am not going to lie that skins with a pale base and pale pigmentation also look good

why wouldn’t it be vamp related, this was when he was in the last seasons of vampire diaries. i think it looks very different to what u described.

He has a bit of red and yellow undertones, Harry Potter has none. Ian would look even better if he had more of it
