Fibrosis (how bone smashing actually works)
repeated micro injuries triggers chronic low risk inflammation to the skin. Each hit causes tiny amounts of tissue damage and bleeding, and the bodys healing response involves fibroblasts laying down collagen to repair it. With a single injury, this collagen gets remodeled and softens over time. But with repeated injury before full healing occurs, collagen keeps accumulating faster than it can be broken down, resulting in dense, fibrous scar tissue that feels noticeably harder and less pliable than normal skin or soft tissue.
Repeated trauma inflames the tissue and each time it heals, fibroblasts lay down more collagen to patch the damage. Because the injury keeps recurring before the collagen can fully remodel, that collagen just keeps piling up in the same space instead of thinning back out. The diagram shows this directly: the normal stroma is loose and open with fibers spread apart, while the fibrotic stroma is packed solid with dense, saturated collagen and larger, more active fibroblasts.
