Competency and intelligence are related but distinct concepts:

Intelligence refers to the ability to learn, understand, and apply knowledge, often linked to reasoning, problem-solving, and abstract thinking. It can be measured through IQ or cognitive tests.

Example: Someone with high intelligence might solve complex mathematical problems quickly.
Competency refers to the ability to perform tasks effectively using skills, knowledge, and experience. It reflects practical application and proficiency.

Example: A person may not be extremely intelligent but could still be highly competent in performing a specific job due to training and experience.
In short, intelligence is about potential and thinking ability, while competency is about practical performance and results. Competency often requires intelligence but also involves practice, effort, and skill-building.
