Hours pass by daily without you even noticing, another day completely wasted daydreaming about a world you’ll never be in, a perfect person you’ll never be and in circumstances you would probably sell your soul just to experience.
Not only does it severely hurt your social capabilities as you tend to self-isolate and seek refuge in these dreams instead of existing in the real world, but it also ruins the joy of entertainment. Music, shows, games, none can be independently experienced and simply enjoyed without dozens of hours of manic roleplaying until you get tired of it and move on to the next thing.
Although it relieves boredom and it helps the time pass quicker, the trade-off is disastrous, it literally destroys whatever little you have (or could have) going for you in life because it’s an extremely addictive habit and you’ll never wish to try and experience the real world because your brain will always give you a better alternative.
It’s literally like being trapped in a mental prison. You want to talk to a girl, but your brain makes you anxious and ultimately instead of talking to that girl you just replicate a desirable scenario in your head and that dopamine will always keep you handcuffed and you will never choose to take the risk of embarrassment or rejection when talking to a real girl when you could just get everything you want in your brain.
Compulsive Maladaptive Daydreaming is a severe mental illness and is an almost impossible cycle to get out of. If you have this, just know you are literally rotting away.

. I’ve tried to stop but it’s so comfortable and easy. I’ll just listen to music for hours and daydream about something I’ll never experience because my reality is so boring and unremarkable.
