Consciousness isn’t inherently meaningful or meaningless on its own

It’s just the temporary state of being aware. But compared to non-awareness, most people treat consciousness as something precious simply because it allows for experience at all. If awareness ends, then whatever "you" were dissolves into the same nothingness that existed before you were born. People talk about souls or reincarnation, but there’s no definitive evidence that consciousness continues, and even if some belief system happens to be right, many of them propose outcomes far worse than ceasing to exist. Either way, the fact remains that consciousness appears to be a brief interruption in an otherwise eternal absence, and everything you feel only exists because the right conditions randomly aligned for your brain to form.
