Sounds accurate. If you trust twelve people and ten of them lie to you and then steal from you, wouldn't that have a negative impact on how you view the majority? Sounds accurate.
From what I gather of those who make this observation, they're suggesting that you trust the ten who lied and stole from you and be happy and positive. Unfortunately, we have quite a few of those trusty graduates living on the streets today. They listened to that advice and lost everything. Perhaps they're still happy, right?
As a pundit living organism, I know about victims of domestic violence. The bully never tells the victim in advance that he will hurt her later. On the contrary, he gains her confidence and preaches about disfavoring negative thoughts. "Positive thinking is approaching unpleasantness in a more optimistic and productive way." He told her on their first date. She smiled as their hands interlocked. She assured herself that she'd found her soul mate. Finally!
Ten days later, struggling her eyes open, ugh, one was too swollen to crack, but the other gave her a glimpse of the well-lit hospital room. Apparently, Mr. Positive Anti-Conspirator had beaten the living shit out of her for forgetting to put the toilet seat back up.
Next thread on trusting optimistic psychopaths, a man in a dress enters a public female's restroom at a water park with a hard on...
