ok, that puts a lot of things in context

and if i add all the calories from alcohol-induced food cravings, it's probably 2x that

starting to appreciate the fact that my organs are still functional

alcoholism creeps up on you so easily

because retard

started getting a bottle of (white) wine here and there to mix it with benzos and hypnotics while relaxing in the evening, ended up even drinking a glass or two while working, in the office, at like 11 AM on tuesday. i have to throw it all out or i'll be tempted to drink no matter what time it is

the fact that alcohol is basically free and that everyone has a store that sells it in the radius of like 100 m doesn't help either

neurotic faggot, deals with irrelevant topics, doesn't have what it takes to tackle the deepest issues; consequently, worshiped by midwits

epistemology, language, logic
Do you believe morality is subjective or objective? If objective, dictated/defined on what?

that's just a false dilemma/dichotomy, same as determinism vs randomness

read some wittgenstein (not recommended for beginners in philosophy/philosophy of language), chomsky (on linguistics, not politics) feyerabend, penrose, tarski, minsky, dennett, von neumann

Mixer is what i struggled with the last time. A bottle of fanta here, a bottle of cola there. I don't drink vodka straight because its vile but those sodas add up the calorie count. Gotta keep an eye on it.

I don't drink beer or lager because thats even worse and tastes like shit. Beer shits afterwards are horrendous.

same as wine, then. i guess that's what alcohol does to your intestines

i don't even enjoy drinking anymore. i just get irritable more than euphoric at this point.

he's the weakest on that list (youtuber tier philosopher at times), but at least he's got the brains to realize free will is not a 0-1 thing

I recently watched a very short video on wittgenstein and it spoke about how he developed the idea that we all just swap pictures with eachother inside our minds eye when describing something and the reason language is so important is because without clear concise understanding of what someone is saying, we will gradually lose the original meaning of what someone says due to this image creation/idea swapping aspect of conversation.

I understand that is an abridged version of his philosophy but I completely agree with it and I have been thinking about this recently. I've been reading novels from Charles Williams and because of the very unique ideas he has, I found myself consciously running the story through my head in order to get a full picture and not miss anything rather than doing it automatically like I would with something much easier to read.

Though obviously its much harder to do in a spur of the moment conversation than it is to do it reading a book for leisure. I think training that ability for conversations is a really good skill.

How do people like alcohol? I personally never drank alcohol at all, and i don't like it. And i know im the extreme minority for that.

What does it feel like and is it worth it to consume so many calories for it?

stop being a retarded autist and just get wasted for the experience

most alcohol is an acquired taste, if you dont like it just mix spirits and soft drinks

it just acts an amplifier of your emotions. makes you go from being in a neutral mood or optimistic to having delusions of grandeur, or from being slightly anxious to getting outbursts of rage. absolutely not worth it, specially if you can't control yourself and drink 2 l in a couple of hours.

it also completely destroys your body (and mind, I've been feeling like a disoriented 120 IQ plant ever since i started having alcohol in my system 80% of the week)

Dude im friendless as fuck, so that would be me doing it by myself in my own room. That alone removes 50% of the experience, right off the bat. Then you have the fact that i live with my mom. Third, i really enjoy the title of being "pure" in the sense that i've never tried it; it really is pretentions as fuck, but if it makes me feel better about myself then whats the point of destroying it, even more-so when i can't get the full experience of being drunk like a normie would.

Not to mention that with my lack of discipline i might just end up addicted, which is the last thing i need right now and it would only make my list of personal issues even longer.

never heard of soju. dont drink whiskey or other tryhard drinks. i have the same taste in alcoholic beverages as 16 yo girls. got wasted with absinth 2 times and those were the worst nights of my life. no point in drinking until you black out when you are outside with friends/girlfriend, imo. what's the point of socializing if you don't remember anything

Soju is kinda like vodka but much more smooth yet stronger hitting without the aftertaste.
Its a Korean drink. S Tier drink.

yeah it’s not really for blacking out, just letting urself loose

Soju is goated ye

I like Whiskey, maybe because that’s the first alcohol I’ve had and registered it in my mind as “how alcohol tastes”

Yeah I'm similar. I've had sips before but I never really enjoyed it so I just don't feel like drinking. I mean, I'm happy that I'm not reliant on drugs or alcohol or anything, but it's not even out of some willful abstinence but just a lack of interest in it. Don't know if I should ever really try or I should think of myself as lucky and keep doing as I'm doing.

Only tangentially related, but what are the most interesting/enlightening books you read?
Need something to consume my time because I'm so bored these days, so some book recommendations would be good. I haven't really read much besides about history anyway, but I was thinking of starting with the greeks soon.

@apemaxxed, just use goodreads (and chat gpt 3.5) to find books that suit your interests. i've read a lot of books and book summaries, but only bible really gave me goosebumps, and i'm not even catholic. i posted a mega link with top 2000 or so books on the moneymaxx section a couple of months ago, but it probably expired by now

this one is pretty good, strong plato vibes
