It's mainly teenagers with nothing else to do, i know that from experience.

Whenever you see someone that is basically chatting in a server 24/7, and ask them how old they are, it's always between 14 and 17.

I'm guessing it's just people that are alone, with no friends, finally finding a way to talk with people about their interests (again, i know this from experience )
