If you learn to engage your core, especially when sitting, you can improve your general posture massively.
Mike Mew actually mentioned this with "The Abs Walk" video, and at the time I thought nothing of it. "How is engaging the core going to give you decent core muscles? It's completely irrelevant, flexing a muscle isn't the same as using it", but in reality, you absolutely are using it, it's just that the strength needed is static strength and not dynamic strength. Engaging your core while sitting relieves lots of pressure from the back and puts it on the muscles, where it should be. Damaging the back or improving the core muscles while sitting, what's your choice?
Like I mentioned, good general posture is an important part of good neck posture, which is an important part of good oral posture. Try to learn to keep the core engaged to stabilize yourself subconsciously, in the same way you try to learn to keep the tongue on the top of the palate. If you tend to slouch in most chairs you sit in, the chairs might not be the problem, because you can sit almost anywhere, even without back support, as long as your core engagement is on point.
