The amount of work you do is up to you. Just take tests and hw from the internet and put up videos in class for the kids to watch. Slack off all day and you get summers off

Yeah, the pay is shit, but idc personally cuz my parents have an extra house I can live in free of charge besides paying property tax

Dealing with annoying kids may be a pain, but I remember in my hs everyone was some quiet rule following nerd so it wasn’t that bad

Why? It can’t be that hard. I remember a lot of my teachers in high school just ripped tests from online questions and gave them to us. Homework was from textbooks

I’m not talking about in some nigger neighborhood where kids stab each other. Some upper middle class white/asian neighborhood

Idk tho, being a teacher is gay. I just want smth low effort and a “respected” job, because that influences if my parents give me money or not. Also no manual labor ofc.

Yes. My professors only take yp like 3-4 classes a day and the motivated ones either spend the rest of tge time doing tgeir research or rotting in their cabins. Salaries are pretty high in higher academia unlike in school you also get on campus accommodation and dorm food included if you want.

No it isnt up to the teacher. They have pressure from management to set certain amounts of homework/ask enough pupils questions during lessons/get certain results. Since allot of results are out of their control (could have a bunch of people that dgaf) that brings more stress. Having more time off is the only positive.

Apparently being a college teacher (16-18) in the uk is a bit better because students have matured a bit by then but same still applies. Other thn that being a university lecturer could be okay in some countries but not the uk

What are the easiest jobs (in terms of effort) that are still respected and not manual labor?

Get a Ph.D in business or a DBA. Work as teaching assistant for a year or two in some good uni for experience, publish a few papers and apply to a good uni. The salaries initially starting out as an assistant professor are average but once you move up to associate/Full Professor the bag gets bigger. Private B-schools and international unis pay crazy if you've got the CV.

It depends on your personality/what your good at/introverted or extroverted at the end of the day. All the traditional public sector jobs that were respected like Police officer, nurse, doctor, teacher are dog shit in the UK atleast though and I can imagine most of western europe is the same.

TBH if I lived in the us I might think about being a nurse. You earn a good amount, training time is relatively short, a small amount of men do it and they supposedly get promoted and climb the career ladder way easier thn the women involved because of that + you work around women all day so you can meet their social circles through work.

You have study to lot to become a professor but once you become one it is easy money. You are also immune from layoffs, industry slow downs and all that shit. You get a job that has decent pay, comes with a lot of benefits and will never be replaced. I've seen some people starting coaching centers online and offline as a side gig and making a bank too

POV: Final period ends at an American public school.

On a serious note, not really in the USA, especially for the current generation. The only teaching jobs that are worth it in the United States are college professor jobs at decent universities or teaching at private high schools.

Top 20 universities and all-girls private schools are the most safe and rewarding places to teach in America, because kids there are actually ready to learn and you'll feel like your contributions mean something instead of just being constantly disrespected and feeling miserable.

Things could be different in other countries though. I'm only speaking for my own.

Yes, American. I go to a T20 university, currently in a STEM degree but early enough to switch without major repercussions.

Come from an upper middle class family and the spare house I mentioned is in an upper class neighborhood

Got it. As you and I both know, popular old school majors like economics are largely a scam for even top college grads in America unless you have a prominent relative in the industry or if you're an Ashkenazi Jew due to a comparative lack of connections and networking opportunities. This is because you'll quickly hit a ceiling in career advancement even though you manage to get that first position out of college. At best, you're gonna get ripped off working excessive hours for unjust payments.

As for tech and engineering, the glory days of anyone getting rich in this field are also over due to absolute oversaturation and the use of cheaper foreign labor. These guys have the worst deal in my opinion, because most of them are socially stunted as well and waste their college years for a false dream. The rug has basically been pulled under their feet.

The only degree worth it in the long run for average Americans (as in you will get rich no matter what as long as you put in the work) is medicine. I don't know how far you are into your degree, but I would switch to at least dentistry or something if you can.

I don't know my original answer is still relevant since you are a top 20 student, but here it is anyway.

Alternate US jobs that have less prestige but are much more fulfilling and still pay decently:

Advertising/Marketing, Editing, Ski Instructor, Personal Trainer, Barber, Videographer

I have a fairly straightforward path to tech (connections for good job, internship this summer)

However it is going to be a lot of work, and idk if it is worth all that. As I said, I'm pretty set in terms of money because I have a nice house that I can go live in free of cost, as long as my dad approves of the job that I get. Which is why I mentioned prestige.
Once I stay there for a few years, it'll basically be considered mine (as my dad ages too), so I can sell it and have even more money.

My goal for now is just find the lowest effort path to keeping him happy and getting an easy job near that house, that he would still approve of. I can look for some low effort side hustles if I really want extra money.

I mean if you already have a house set up in a nice area, you're way better off than most people here. At this point I don't even know if you need to hustle a STEM job or medicine like most Americans. Buying a house is the biggest chunk of the general struggle in the USA.

Are your parents rich? And what city are you in? I'm from Manhattan.

I would just get an office job at least (should be easy with your background) after undergrad so your dad gives you the house. Although I'm not sure how your family works, will he hand over the property rights to you as well or continue to use it as leverage? My parents trust me enough and they'll just provide the cash when I graduate and let me buy it my own apartment here instead.

My parents are upper middle class, not sure if I could call them rich. I'm sure if the average American heard of having more than one house and our NW they'd think rich, but its really nothing compared to actual wealthy people.

He will hand it over to me if I get a good job and go live near there. I'd be responsible for any maintenance/paying property tax too, so I'd need to keep a job that at least pays enough to dish out quite a bit in property taxes yearly.

If you're in manhattan I assume you're going into IB? Or something finance related?

My dad will chill once I graduate and get a job he considers good. After that I'll be able to do what I want.

I already have ~100k in savings from other ventures but I want to get that up

No, I'm actually a film major. Finance never interested me. I'm interning for a production company this summer.

It's the job I actually want, and this way I'll have a lot more time to spend with my gf. I feel like too many hours in the office can kill a relationship as well as your health, so I always steered clear of IB.

Anyway that's good to hear, I feel like you already know what to do. Just get a decent job with your major, save up a bit, and then start trying out what you really want to do in life before it's too late.

Film actually sounds interesting. Do your jewish connections help you there, or what?

I would say over half of my class is Jewish. It's actually a pretty popular field for us, most of my older friends found something after college.

Very fun but high-trust environment as well.
