Could you still see forward growth progress if you wear bottom retainer but not top?

Long story short when I was very young I got a palate expander but while I went through braces I continued to mouth breathe and my maxilla was very flat when I got out of braces. This was when my retainers were made and I still have the same ones. I began to thumpull and stop wearing my retainers so my teeth didn’t return to their positions when I started as well as just going through normal development in puberty and I have gained a lot of forward growth since then. I had proper tongue posture by then and my teeth stayed mostly straight despite not wearing the retainers, but my bottom teeth shifted out of place slightly. That’s when I figured maybe since the mandible bone isn’t directly connected to the maxilla, I could wear only my bottom retainer to make those teeth straighter without any drawbacks. Thoughts? I wouldn’t be too broken up about not wearing the bottom one, it’s not that bad. Thanks for any advice.
