what possible halo could he create though?

here's a rough simplified example:

this man could spend years saving for infraorbital implants and genioplasty, only to become "dateable" much later.

or he could get a rhinoplasty, even if his nose isn't a flaw, and nichemaxx into a "tired prettyboy" archetype, making himself more distinctive and appealing to a specific type rather than competing with the entire world as just another slightly above-average guy.

its similar to what i did tho, i have a recessed maxilla and got a rhinoplasty instead of fixing that first (i didnt know at the time) but they were both flaws anyway

yes, this is why it's a theoretical scenario; you just have to imagine everything goes my way.
