Cristiano Ronaldo is the highest smv male in the world

yes i did and it took me no longer than 30 minutes to be able not to fall on my ass every 2 seconds but thats not the point obviously i cant play hockey if that what you asking but you cant play football either its not as easy as you think it is.try to juggle the ball at least 10 times and lets see even if thats very trash to begin with i got rejected in my pro scouting and i can easily do as many as i want without the ball falling

I did play soccer, everyone can play it. All you need is legs. You however cannot play hockey because you can't skate, it's a hard skill to learn. I've never tried bouncing the damn ball 10 times, that's random as hell.

Soccer is popular because it's easy and cheap, end of discussion.

All the unathlectic, can't play sports kids play soccer here, why? Because it's the only sport their lazy ass parents can get them to actually play because it is so low skill.

Not denying pro players posses a tremendous amount of skill but it's still less than most other sports because it's just such a low skill sport in general

1. I would say many of the the same external factors apply. But soccer has two huge factors that are overlooked.
a. Soccer has a loooong history (2000 years), this gave it much time to globalize and to weave itself into different countries' cultures. I wonder how the tables would turn if basketball had a 2000 year history. Basketball is only in its infancy compared to soccer (130 years). And it's much harder for it to take over now, since soccer already has engraved itself in many countries' cultures (despite this, basketball is actua

b. Accessibility - Literally don't need any equipment besides a ball, and even then you don't need an actual soccer ball. Just two rocks and some sort of ball (honestly how i played a lot of times when i was a kid).

2. More importantly, we have to recognize that even the same factors will apply to different degrees.
For example, culture and upbringing play a large part in what sports kids will play and watch. But this factor is much more significant for soccer because in europe and other areas where football is part of the culture, the population is just so much higher. The factor is applied on a greater number of people. I think you and I both know that those same kids that grew up playing and watching football in europe, would be playing and watching basketball if they were raised in America. It's not like there is something inherent in Europeans that has them prefer soccer.

A lot of terrible ideologies were very popular back in the day, but that doesn't make them the best. Popularity is not a good metric.... at least not alone. It is good to get a select few of sports that you want to compare but at some point, better criteria have to be developed.

This is long and I don't really wanna argue tbh. trust this argument will not end because it's too hard to define what makes a sport great. plus i gotta sleep at some point my G :what:
nice good arguments. i guess we will just have to see but for now football dominates.i wonder how popular basketball will be in the future but the equipement factor will forever hold it back.

i would like to add a very big factor that only benefits basketball aswell tho and thats usa huge influence on the whole world but as i said before basketball is indeed growing we will see what happens in the future

most of my friends in italy discovered basketball through rap and shit like that which is directly connected to us culture.here in france is different people play basketball not really because of that

very true as well. Again that's why I said I don't like popularity as metric or at least not alone. I bet if we were to write a paper on this, we would find even more significant external factors.

as a side note if you had to classify a sport as better than another what would your parameters be?like what would you use?

tough tbh. Generally I try to think of criteria that are as free as possible of external factors (or as close as we can get to that). Parameters that have to do solely with how good the game is inherently. Even the parameters that I choose are hard to define and measure as well. But here are some.

Complexity (then again there are people that would argue simplicity is better)
Level of skill and athleticism required to play
Entertainment value (pretty hard to define and is subjective). But a lot of times it's incredible displays of athleticism/skill. like dunks, blocks, crossovers are entertaining in basketball. dribbling, finesse moves/shots and slide tackles are entertaining in football.

These are the main three that usually come up, can't think of that many tbh

Then from there you could just make arguments that are specific to the context. For example, people say that football is better because anyone can play, whereas height is a limiting factor for basketball. Basically inclusivity/physical accessibility. Some people say that's relevant, some people say that's not. Don't really know tbh. Again just a tough debate, but always fun to have once in a while.

I FKIN DON'T UNDERSTAND HOW SHITTY SOCCER IS THAT POPULAR.
Btw I don't get how and why these boring instagram ppl are popular.

So I'd say the best sport would prob be the most entertaining, but then it comes to individual tastes.
To me, literally every team sports are boring af, but I can force myself to watch UFC fights for like 10 mn.
Action sports can be entertaining to watch too, when you feel there's some kind of risk involved.

Meanwhile, people praise billionaires running after a ball JFL

Uhm what? Just by the nature of it being the most played sport in the world with the most money involved it makes it the highest skill ceiling sport out there.

- Second best player in the best and most popular sport in the world
- 6'1 bare foot
- Most popular athete in the world
- 450 million networth
- Most followed person on instagram in the world
- Ripped

Big facts, now imagine if an Incel had these allegations jgl
