Incel theory is a field of post-structuralist critical theory that emerged in the early 2010s out of incel studies (formerly often known as **** and **** studies) and PSL studies. The term "incel theory" is broadly associated with the study and theorization of gender and sexual practices that exist outside of heterosexuality, and which challenge the notion that heterosexuality is what is normal.

Summary of incel beliefs/attitudes:
  1. Anyone who is single/celibate for involuntary reasons is an incel
  2. Success is determined by life circumstances outside of control, there is no improvement
  3. Everything can and should be judged from the SM and SMV class struggles

Anyone who believes that inceldom is a state is an incel theorist.

There's two meanings to the term "incel":
  • Someone who does not want to be celibate but is anyway (Alana's definition)
  • Someone who believes that inceldom exists and identifies themselves and others with it (someone who believes in Alana's definition)
