Why is it sometimes that a canted lip remains canted post bimax? Sometimes surgery fixes this, sometimes it does not. Why? Does it have to do anything with what technique is used during surgery? Or is it a problem in the musculature somehow?

Soft tissue I think. If your maxilla and mandible have been canted for your entire life then surely it would have some lasting impact on soft tissue and muscle memory, even after correction.

Could be wrong though.
